The Melt 2 is the new iteration of We-Vibe’s widely praised air pulse stimulator, the Melt. It looks just like the OG Melt, but it has several preset patterns and the “Smart Silence” feature. The Melt 2 is slightly higher pitched than the Melt but measured the same dB level. It comes in 2 new colors: purple and sage. I’ll share my thoughts on it as well as a brief comparison to the Melt.
Melt 2 at a Glance
Pros: More rumbly vibrations. 2 [stronger] motors. Same low-profile design as the OG Melt. New Smart Silence feature. New preset patterns. Decent battery life. App compatibility.
Cons: None, really.
Modes | Noise Level | Charge Time | Run Time | Dimensions | Warranty | Waterproof |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
7 modes, 12 intensities | ~37dB in contact with skin | 90 mins | 120 mins | 135 mm x 47 mm x 44 mm (same as Melt) | 2 years | Yes |
Unboxing & Inspection
We-Vibe products come in a sturdy box, and their presentation is really pretty and high-end. The packaging and the whole unboxing experience would make for a nice gift!
The Melt 2 is the same size and design as the Melt, but when I first picked up the Melt 2, I instantly realized that the silicone has a slightly rubberier and more grippy feeling than the Melt’s silky soft silicone finish. The difference in texture is noticeable, and which texture is “better” is going to come down to personal preference.

More on the silicone: the silicone texture also has several tiny divots near the almost-undetectable seams. In the past, I’ve verified with We-Vibe that these tiny divots are part of the manufacturing process and do not compromise the safety or integrity of the toy.

Controls and Run Time
It’s got 5 buttons. Press the +/- buttons to power on/off and to control intensity level. You can also hold the + & – buttons down for 2 seconds turn on/off the travel lock. Press the </> buttons to cycle through the patterns. Pressing the We-Vibe icon (~) activates the Smart Silence feature. Press the same button for 5 seconds to connect to the We-Vibe app.
The Melt 2 comes with a User Manual and magnetic charging cable. Run time is 120 minutes on a single charge (90 min charge time). It’s battery life is comparable to the Melt.
Included Documentation
The Melt 2 User Manual goes over instructions for use, care, and cleaning. As soon as an online version of the manual is available, I’ll link to it here.

My Experience Using the Melt 2
Since I’m *intimately* familiar with the original Melt, my assessment of the Melt 2 takes a comparative angle. The original Melt will still be available for quite some time, so hopefully this makes it easier for you to decide if you’ll enjoy either one!
First Impression: Deeper Pulse!
The Melt 2 has upgraded motors that deliver a deeper air pulse. The Melt is strong too, but it only has one motor, and it can feel buzzier at its higher intensities. The Melt 2’s grippier texture and ever so slightly squishier mouth also seem to amplify its air pulse sensations. The original Melt gently rests against you and basically feels like skin on skin (hence the name, heh), whereas the Melt 2 feels more direct and grippy. It may cause a little friction with small movements during use if you aren’t using much lube.

New Feature: Preset Patterns
Unlike the OG Melt, Melt 2 has preset patterns. Its 7 modes each have 12 intensities. The modes include a continuous vibration and 6 pleasant and well-engineered patterns. Since the Melt 2 comes with patterns, you don’t really need to create custom patterns on the We-Vibe app like you might for the original Melt. I haven’t felt compelled to actually use that feature of the app for the Melt 2 since it already has decent patterns. If you need patterns and don’t feel industrious enough to make your own on the Melt, the Melt 2 comes ready to rock!
New Feature: Smart Silence
The Smart Silence feature (also a feature of the We-Vibe Wand 2) uses a sensor to turn on the air pulse only when it’s touching skin (or skin under fabric). Activate this feature by pushing the We-Vibe icon just above the charging contacts while the Melt 2 is on. This is useful for discreet play, but it also offsets one other aspect: the motor has a slightly higher pitched hum than the Melt’s low, soft rumble. To me, it sounds a tad louder. But is the noise off-putting? Absolutely not! It’s still relatively quiet and measures at essentially the same volume as the Melt (~37dB by my measurements). If you’re curious, check out my review of the original Melt here.
I LOVE the Melt 2’s last two modes, which are both variations of a “rise and fall” kind of pattern. I tend to use the Melt 2 somewhere around a level 5-7 intensity, but I enjoy the fact that I can feel its air pulsing even at the lowest level. Even still, its highest intensity doesn’t feel unbearably powerful. I appreciate the fact that all of its levels are useable!
On the We-Vibe app, you can manually control the pulse intensities and play with a few preset patterns on the “Multi Vibe” feature. In this mode, you can also create your own short pattern by selecting the lower right quadrant (it’s blank by default when you first sync your toy). From there, you can choose an option from the Vibe Gallery or make your own.
“Beat mode” is another personal favorite, where your toy’s vibes sync up to a downloaded song from your device. This is great for when you just wanna turn your brain off and vibe out.
“Ambient” mode tripped me up a few times; I don’t totally see the use for it, especially with a toy that isn’t hands-free. “Touch” mode and “Single Vibe” mode basically do the same thing, but you can get a little more variability and responsiveness from Touch mode (basically drawing on a screen; kinda cool!). You can also connect to other We-Vibe toys through “Long Distance Play” – more on that later!
Final Thoughts
The We-Vibe Melt 2 offers a Smart Silence feature and preset patterns; both are nice enhancements to a proven toy. I only wish they’d used the same silky soft silicone of the OG Melt; I personally just like it better because it feels more supple and gentle on my skin. The patterns, especially the last two IMO, really deliver though. Still, if you’re someone who likes the simpler things and enjoys continuous vibrations as opposed to lots of patterns, I’d suggest the Melt. You can still create custom patterns easily on the app! 🙂
The Melt 2 is a solid upgrade over the original Melt. Good battery life, more powerful air pulses, preset patterns and the smart silence feature make it a clear upgrade.
The original Melt is still a classic. Lower top-end power and fewer features but still sports that classic supple material.
