Product Spotlight: Iroha Vibes

If you’re on a quest for a non-phallic, non-penetrative object of pleasure for the clit and/or vulva, a discreet Iroha toy may be just what you need!  Their soft, supple material and small, gently curved designs make them non-intimidating and perfect for beginners, post-menopausal users, or other conditions with particular sensitivities.

Iroha is a sister brand of Tenga, the makers of the best-selling Flip Zero Gravity strokers, and they have the same high-quality feel and aesthetic you might expect from a Japanese self-care brand.

Unboxing & Inspection

I unboxed the four little cuties from their packaging. The boxes are substantial, smooth material with discreet references to their contents on the backs. Behold: the iroha Sakura, iroha Midori, iroha Tori Renewal, and iroha Kushi Renewal.

Described from left to right, top to bottom:

iroha Sakura: A melon-colored egg shape with a little indention at the crest for pinpoint stimulation or gentle “pinching.”

iroha Midori: A bulbed, pear-shape with a rounded upward curved nub and soft green color.

iroha Tori Renewal: Tori, or “bird” in Japanese, has a more protruding curved tip for more leveraged stimulation or shallow penetration, if that’s your thing. Deeper reddish color.

iroha Kushi Renewal: A teardrop with defined ridges for grinding and a tapered tip for teasing. Cream colored.

*These silicone vibrators should only be used with water-based lubricant.

Charging

I promptly charged these babies. I felt like I’d created an art installation or something… incubating colorful little egg-like beings. For lovers of the non-phallic vibes, love on these!

The magnetic USB cable attaches over the single button on the underside of the iroha toys, and the slowly pulsing light indicates charging. The light on each toy turns off when fully charged. The charging cable is the same for the iroha series and the iroha Renewal series, so they are interchangeable.

Charge time: 120 min for all

Run time: 90 min for iroha (Midori, Sakura, & Yuki) / 60 min for iroha Renewal (Tori, Kushi, Yoru). I was curious about the shorter run time, so I asked my Tenga rep about it. The Renewal series has a shorter run time because of the additional high powered pulse settings.

Just the Tips

A quick description of the accenting tip of each toy:

iroha Sakura: The small indention at the crest is purely silicone material, so it feels like lips – perfect for grasping the clit or teasing other erogenous zones!

iroha Midori: The rounded upward curved nub is backed by part of the firm core of the toy, so you can use it to apply pressure to the clit or other area. You can also flip it around for very shallow penetration.

iroha Tori Renewal: This one has a more protruding tip. This makes it great for leveraged stimulation when more pressure is needed.  Like the Midori, you can also flip this around for shallow penetration, but the tip is slightly squared off on the edges, though, so I think it’s well-suited for clitoral stimulation and rubbing.

iroha Kushi Renewal: The defined ridges on the Kushi are perfect for grinding. You’ll need to maneuver or turn the toy a little to use the tip because it is curved to the side. However, the firmer core of the toy follows this shape, so its rigidity is a benefit here. The tip feels like a soft nipple or tongue. The last 1/2″ of the tip is purely silicone material, so it’s soft and bendy at the very end.

Literature

Inside each box, the toy is nestled in with the user manual and black magnetic USB charging cable.

The cautionary sheet “For Your Safety” reminds you that these are submersible for up to 20″, but not for extended periods of time.

Hands On

My favorite part- getting my hands on these!  The iroha series fit in your palm nicely and feel absolutely luxurious.  The silicone is super supple and feels naturally warm and flesh-like to the touch, which adds to their sensuality. The inner form of each toy is firm and seems to have between 1/8″-1/4″ of the silicone “skin” cushioning it. Of course, the silicone can be squeezed or pressed firmly and immediately returns to its shape. The texture of the silicone itself is matte, providing a nice texture with just enough friction against the skin to be perfect for sensual rubbing, grinding or caressing.

All iroha and iroha Renewal toys have a single button interface on the underside of the toy. This simple, intuitive approach makes it easy to navigate patterns during use. I love single button interfaces because they don’t require a pause, a glance down at the toy – no disruptions to play.  As you hold the ridged or raised part of the toy against yourself or your partner, your fingers can rest above or on either side of the button for natural maneuvering and spontaneous pattern changes.

Patterns

The standard iroha series (Midori, Sakura, and Yuki) have 3 vibration intensities and 2 subsequent pulse patterns:

The iroha Renewal series (Tori, Kushi, & Yoru) have 5 vibration intensities and 3 pulse patterns that follow:

Comparing the two, I found the vibration levels 1/low to be equivalent to eachother, and the level 5/high to be equivalent. The Pulse 1 patterns are equivalent on both, and the other pulse patterns are unique. I really enjoyed the “enticing” Pulse 3 on the Renewal Series as well as the lowest vibe intensity on both. To each their own, right?!

Noise

These aren’t loud! When pressed to skin and under the bed covers, you can hardly hear a thing. These measured about 35 dB out in the open; barely audible over the ambient noise in my house.

Travel Lock

These don’t have a travel lock, BUT since the singular button on the underside is slightly inset, there is low risk of inadvertently turning this on while traveling. To ensure it doesn’t get jostled just right and turn on mistakenly, you could just place it against a flat surface like a book or small, flat cosmetic case. The button does require a pretty firm and intentional press to actuate, so I’d generally travel with these without worrying. They look cute and totally harmless too, so I’d assume there is very little risk of anyone identifying them as a sex toy during security checks.

Final Thoughts

The iroha/iroha Renewal series are great starter toys for beginners, but they’re also wonderfully fleshy and realistic: hand one over to your partner to use for stimulating other hot spots, maybe even as you wear a blindfold.

The simple interface and patterns allow you to think less about operating the toy and focus more on how you’re feeling. I personally hate having to anticipate where I am in a pattern loop, mistakenly skipping over the pattern or intensity I wanted, or having to pause to look down at which button I want to press. The iroha series delivers the important basics, all wrapped up in a soft, beautifully discreet little package. Handling one of these feels like a high-end treat, and I loved “handling” all four of these. 😉

*Remember to only use water-based lubricant with these (and any) silicone toys.
