Product Review: nJoy Pure Wand

The nJoy Pure Wand is a 316 (medical) grade stainless-steel curved wand with two different sized bulbs, or balls, on its respective ends. It works well to stimulate the G-spot or P-spot, and it’s received rave reviews by numerous independent sex toy reviewers, Redditors, and by publications such as The New York Times, GQ, Allure, and others. You can use the larger ball for G-spot stim and the smaller ball for the P-spot, or the other way around; whichever you like. It’s also one of HappyBed’s best-selling toys, year over year. Here’s more on the Pure Wand and how to use it:

Unboxing & Inspection

The Pure Wand is a chunk of a wand (~1.5 lbs), and it’s got a beautifully smooth mirror-finish.  It’s honestly a timeless sort of sex toy. The small nJoy logo is discreetly etched in the center of the curve, which measures 10″, or 8″ straight from end to end. The wand comes packaged in a substantial keepsake-type box on a cushion of pink satin material (their other pieces are packaged this way too; check them out!). The box is high-quality enough to keep; it looks kind of like a jewelry box and won’t look out of place on your bedside table or dresser. You could remove the cushioning and use it to store the Pure Wand along with another small toy or two.

Literature

The nJoy Pure Wand literature is tucked inside the nJoy sturdy box. It covers how to clean your stainless-steel toy. (Use soap and water and then dry with soft cloth, or a mild bleach solution for swapping with a partner or changing between anal and vaginal use.) It’s also got an overview of nJoy’s other products: Fun Wand, Pure Plugs, Pfun Plug, and the Eleven; all beautifully designed stainless-steel works of art!

Intro to Use

When I first opened my Pure Wand, I was surprised at its heft. Overall, it measures 8” long. The large end is 1.5” in diameter, and the small end is 1” wide. It initially feels cool when stored at room temp. Of course, the more you handle it, the warmer it feels. I’d suggest gently experimenting a bit with the Pure Wand on your skin externally before jumping into play to ensure that the surface is a comfortable temperature for you.

To try “temperate play,” rest the wand in warm or cold (maybe ice?) water or place it in the fridge for a little while to experience heightened sensation. Of course, since the Pure Wand is stainless steel, it can be quickly restored to the temperature you prefer – just keep your warm or cool water nearby! I personally like to warm up the Pure Wand a little with my hands, but it’s invigorating to take it in even at a cool room temp, slicked with a little lube – it doesn’t take much lube since the piece is already so smooth. The wand so effective that my body gets HOT and warms it quickly, and my focus shifts to the shape of the Pure Wand rather than its temperature. 😉

If you rest one end of the Pure Wand in the palm of your hand, you get a sense for how much it presses into you, just from gravity alone. Generally speaking, subtle movements are key for stimulating yourself with the nJoy Pure Wand because of its shape, weight, and rigidity. You feel just the slightest amount of pressure, no matter where you’re putting it! Keep this in mind as you go. 🙂

The Pure Wand measures 8″ straight across, from end to end.

G-spot stimulation

Depending on your body and the intensity needed, you can use either end of the wand for G-spot stimulation. The G-spot is located in the front/anterior upper third of the vaginal canal, and if you insert the Pure Wand with the curved end upward/toward the front of your body, using slight leverage of the curve can stimulate the G-spot. Everyone’s body is a little different, but for many who have vaginas, this sensation pairs nicely with external clitoral stimulation – use your fingers or another toy like one of our top bullets or the We-Vibe Melt

You can carefully experiment what works best for you: rocking on it, pulling it in and out of your body, or trying the leverage technique. For me, just pulling the large end of the wand in and out of my vagina feels amazing to start. From there, I work up to deeper insertion, letting my body find its way around the shape of the wand for the best G-spot contact. The curve of this toy is really special, and the shaft increases in diameter on the wide end of the wand. The Pure Wand is heavy, but I love the firmer pressure, personally. I’ve usually finished or am just ready for a break by the time my hands get tired. 🙂

Which end for G-spot? Since everybody is different, this part will vary, but I personally like the larger end for G-spot stimulation. I pair this with a rumbly wand or a pulsing or flicking toy (just tried it with the new Sormi bullet recently), stimulating myself first clitorally (you can massage the clit with one of the balls), and then maybe go at it with the Pure Wand and clit toy together. I love the greater sensation of fullness that I get from the larger end of the wand, along with the gradually wider shaft at that end. But because it’s so firm, it doesn’t quite give the sense of fullness that you’d feel from a squishier dildo like the Vixen Maverick. Surprisingly, I first had to push more toward the front of my body when playing with the smaller end of the wand, and since that requires more maneuvering and a slightly different angle, I tend to prefer the larger end so that it’s easier for me to hold the clit toy and the wand at the same time; it’s just slightly less work on my part and more satisfying, but you may feel differently when you try it! 😉

P-spot stimulation

The male prostate is located just below the bladder, generally ~2” inside the anus and toward the front of the body, in the direction of the area between the penis and belly button. Massaging or pressing on the prostate can cause a prostate orgasm, which feels different from a penile orgasm; it can feel full-bodied, intense, and may last longer. Because of its shape and rigidity, the Pure Wand is a great tool for finding and stimulating your prostate when inserted in the anus.

The set up: Since the anus doesn’t self-lubricate, you’ll want to apply the lube of your choice to your anus and the first few inches of the wand (see above; we recommend Sliquid Silk hybrid lube or Sliquid Sassy silicone-based lube). If you hold the wand so it makes a U shape and insert an end into your body, you can slowly work it inside so that it presses into the front of your body from the inside. Using small stroking movements, you can gently rock your body over the bulbed end of the wand to poke or press into the prostate. The sensation may feel unusual at first but can feel extremely pleasurable with experimentation and practice.

If you initially find the larger end intimidating, you can start with the small end to locate your prostate, and then transition to the larger end when you’re ready.  Some users say that the smaller end (1” diameter) of the Pure Wand creates more focused pressure and can be more intense, whereas the larger end (1.5” diameter) offers a fuller feeling and broader stimulation to the prostate area.

If you’re new to P-spot stimulation, try to relax and be patient with the process. Considering the persistence sometimes required to reach prostate orgasm, you might feel a little zonked afterwards!

Here are some tips:

  • You may try spacing out your masturbation sessions for best results.
  • Using an anal plug can help relax the anus and allow easier insertion of the larger end of the Pure Wand.
  • You can experiment with tensing and relaxing the anal or pelvic muscles during play.
  • You can also add some penis stimulation to enhance the experience, which can intensify the end orgasm. Or you can abstain and focus on the P-spot!
  • There are users who practice tantric meditation to enhance the experience of prostate orgasms. It’s a way to explore the mind-body connection in an already deeply personal… dare I say SPIRITUAL… experience!

Lube

I like to use Sliquid Water-Based Lube or Sliquid Silk Hybrid Lube for the Pure Wand play because they use cellulose instead of glycerin, and they’re free of parabens as well.  For glass and stainless-steel toys, I think hybrid lube offers the best of both worlds. I use it with glass and stainless-steel toys because it doesn’t evaporate as quickly as water-based lube. Hybrid or silicone-based lube doesn’t degrade toys made of inert materials like stainless steel or glass, so you have lotsa lube options with the Pure Wand! When pairing a super-slick lube with a heavy or fragile toy, I’ll usually play in bed so that I don’t accidentally drop and damage the piece.

Cleaning the nJoy Pure Wand

Since the Pure Wand is made of medical-grade stainless steel, it’s pretty straightforward to clean completely, and it doesn’t retain odor. For personal use, simply using soap and water will do the trick, and wipe with a soft cloth to dry off water spots. Just avoid scrubbing with abrasive materials, or you could scratch the polished surface.  If you’re swapping between anal and vaginal or sharing with a partner, the instructions recommend bathing it in a mild 10% bleach solution between uses. You can also boil it, but be careful about scratching the piece or the cookware that you use.

Final Thoughts

The Pure Wand really is a polished work of art. Its typical retail price is $120.00 before discounts, but HappyBed has frequent sales, and we toss out coupon codes all year here! Although it’s pricier than a number of other toys, it’s a piece that doesn’t break, degrade, or fail in any way, really. The Pure Wand is a worthy investment!
